As you know the Derby walk 2009 stretches from Knightsbridge (Tattersalls Tavern) to Epsom Downs racecourse, via The Elephant and Castle, Merton and Epsom.
We’ve decided to make a couple of changes to the format of the walk. To make it easier for anyone that is unable to carry out the whole walk, we’ve decided to break it up into segments (legs), which should enable people to “drop in and out” whenever they want/need to. Hopefully this will lead to more people taking part in at least one or two stages, even if the full distance of 20 odd miles is unachievable.
The Segments (legs) and predicted timings are set out as follows :-
Depart Tattersalls Tavern 7 am – arrive Stockwell underground stn 9 am (leg 1)
Depart Stockwell 9.15 am – arrive Tooting Broadway 10.50 am (leg 2)depart Tooting 11.05 am – arrive Morden Hall 12.40 pm (leg 3)depart Morden 1pm – arrive Epsom, Spread Eagle walk 4.20 pm (leg 4)Last leg, depart Epsom 4.30 pm – arrive Epsom Downs Racecourse 5.15pm (leg 5), via The Amato Inn and The Chalk Lane Hotel.
I sincerely hope these changes will allow more people to be involved in some way. Whether it’s actually walking or just offering support on the way, which would be much appreciated.
